What to expect
Tours run for approximately 2 hours at 10am every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The content of tours is tailored to the interests of each group and is suitable for all knowledge levels.
You will be taken back in time to learn about the history and traditions of the Gunditjmara clan groups who lived here prior to colonisation.
You’ll see and touch some native foods and botanicals that are growing still in this area and learn about significant sites, practices and customs.
This is a culturally safe tour.

Tour cost
A minimum of group size of 2 is required for tours to run (adults and children over 12).
The maximum group size is 10 (not including children).
Ticket prices:
Adults and children above 12: $50
Seniors (60+ with seniors card): $40
Children under 12: $25 (accompanied by a paying adult)
Children under 6 free: (accompanied by a paying adult)
Private tours:

No tours run on public holidays and total fire ban days.
Walking level & what to bring
The walking tour covers a mix of trails over a distance of 2km - on roads, gravel and sand.
The tour is suitable for those who can manage an ‘easy’ walking level, though we recommend wearing comfortable shoes and suitable clothing for bush walking.
We recommend also bringing:
Sun protection - hat, sunglasses, sunscreen
Rain jacket (depending on weather forecast)
Comfortable walking shoes for gravel, road and sand tracks
Water bottle
Personal medications if required
Your guide is a qualified First Aider and will carry a first aid kit. Judy has a valid Working With Children check, National Police Check and is a licensed tour guide.
Where to meet
Meet at Simsons Landing picnic table, (Simsons Landing Road, Nelson, Victoria). The tour departs and returns to the same location.
Parking and public toilets are available at Simsons Landing.
There will be a banner with Bocara Cultural Walking Tour allocated at the starting point of the tour.
Please arrive 10 minutes prior to the tour start time.

If the weather is forecast for strong winds, damaging winds, weather surges no tour will be held. No tours will be operating on total fire ban days, catastrophic days or extreme days.

Yes photos can be taken but not at all locations, such as the sacred site. Please see our policy on our website for more information and advice on photography and sharing of cultural knowledge.

Yes, if they can walk up to 2km. Children under the age of 16 must have a parent or carer present on the tour.

The guide has a first aid certificate, and will be carrying a first aid kit, snake kit, leech kit and will have access to emergency services.

Yes there will be spots where we will be stopping and talking. The only seating is at the beginning and end of the tour.

No, some surfaces are unstable and not suitable for limited mobility, including sand.

No. Tours run in areas not suitable for pets. Pets are not permitted at sacred sites.

No. Four adults or children over 12 must attend a tour for it to take place.
